The observatory is designed for traditional folk astronomy. It serves
the scientific and cultural educational objectives. It is open to anyone with free
admission. That is also the difference to the club observatory designed for club
members, and be financed through a membership fee. The operation of Gmunden in the
observatory therefore financed entirely from private pockets. Further operation,
